Lower back pain and possible causes

Low back pain is also called lumbago. Many people have occasionally suffered from this, and when the pain stays on for an extended period,it drives people to despair. People who suffer from lower back pain often exprience madness no matter what altitude they experience in standing, sitting and lying down … It does not matter, they still experience the pain.

What do we mean by lower back pain?

Here we elaborate on lower back pain and its possible causes. A well-known symptom of low back pain is that the pain occurs in the lumbar region of the lower back of the addomen. The pain is constant within thesame region. However, if this pain continues for example in the legs, hips or feet region, we no consider this as lower back pain rather we call this as lumbago sciatica. Sciatica is nerve pain that arises from the lower back which proceeds to the legs. This is a very painful condition that often does not disappear by itself.

What are the causes of low back pain?

Several causes may be causing the pain. But in almost all cases it occurs when you’ve made a wrong move, or after heavy physical exertion. It is a common sports injury that can occur due to incorrect exercise or lifting too much weight. Or that pain in your lower back which always occurs when you overload the spine.

To tense back muscles

Back muscles play an important role. The lower back pain is caused by the so-called “long straight back muscle. This muscle is called the erector spinae muscles. This muscle is one of the longest muscles in human and runs from the neck vertebrae up to the sacrum. It is a very strong muscle that provides stabilization for the body. However, what many people do not know is that they unconsciously tighten this long muscle. This can be caused by incorrect posture, wrong moves or because the muscle is underdeveloped. What can you do to prevent low back pain?

Be Rest assured that the symptoms eventually disappear naturally. We recommend you to, where possible, to spare your back. Household chores, prolonged sitting or workout gives you best solution or prevent measures for what it is. The pain disappears then, in most cases, after a number of days, and this implies at most a few weeks. In rare cases,lower back pain continues for several months. Still, it is wise to protect your back muscles completely, at least going to see a physiotherapists. What you can do in most cases, is to make sure that you keep moving. Swimming is preferred, but daily walk also complicates. Avoid any situation where you can be physically charged back.

Keep your muscles warm

Prevent your muscles from been tense up and get dressed, thereby geting extra warm. Also, it is sometimes recommended to keep a warm water inorder to prevent the aching back or simply take a warm shower.

A good sitting or reclining!

Sedentary work is one of the biggest culprits of back pain. When you perform example sedentary job you begin to develop a wrong attitude. Your back will get enough support when you are trying to adopt a comfortable position. Make sure you are gentle on the back. For example, place a pillow under your knee or go on the side lying with your legs raised slightly.

Taking paracetamol

It looks like kicking in an open door but with low back pain , it is recommended to use acetaminophen or other painkillers. Paracetamol has fewer side effects than, some anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen. Anyways take some painkillers as prescribed by your physician. Do this in consultation with your doctor and drink plenty of water to protect your stomach. Possibly it is also recommended to wear a back belt if the back pain continues regularly. This can possibly be discuss with your physiotherapist.

If the pain continues, then it is recommended that you do not self-medicate but just ensure to see your doctor. He will check your back and then refer you to a physiotherapist or a remedial therapist.Low back pain is a common condition and it disappears, as we wrote, usually returns within a few days to weeks.
